BASEBALL
The GRBA offers Travel Baseball programs for boys at the 9U through 14U ages in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Boys must be in 3rd Grade to participate on the 9U Teams. We also support 15U through 18U Summer Travel Baseball Teams.
Travel Baseball Programs are more competitive and are intended for the player who has had success in the Recreation Program and is looking for a higher level of play. The GRBA supports 1 or 2 teams per age group with a roster of approximately 12 players per team. In most cases, the number of interested players exceeds the number of available roster spots and tryouts and cuts are required. The GRBA will do its best to ensure that all tryouts are conducted to provide each child with an equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Depending upon availability, independent evaluators (including professionals where practical) will be used to provide input into the selection process.
The GRBA is asking all our Travel Managers to work on the development of all players on their rosters. However, minimum playing time is not guaranteed on travel teams and some players may not play as much as some of their teammates.
Travel Baseball teams require a higher level of commitment. Players will be required to attend scheduled practices and games.
The GRBA understands that it is difficult for a young boy to hear that he has been cut or won't play as much as a peer. We have carefully considered these factors. However, due to the constraints of field space, the number of teams we can realistically support, the level of play in the leagues we participate in, and the goal to play good competitive baseball, we have adopted these policies in our travel baseball programs.
Parents are asked to understand the level of commitment and potential for cuts and unequal playing time before having your child tryout for a team.
These programs are run under the direction of the VP of Travel Baseball - Darrell Felsenstein. If you have any questions about the 2010 Travel Baseball Programs, please contact Darrell at dfelsenstein@wellslaw.com.
