Softball Rules and Regulations
 
Tee Wee Softball League 2

The purpose of this league is to develop the skills of our young players and to foster an interest in the sport of softball.  At all times, please keep in mind the safety of the young players in your charge.  Focus is placed on safety, sportsmanship and fundamentals. 

LEAGUE 
The league consists of kindergarten and 1st grade girls.

FORMAT OF THE GAME 

bulletTees and Tee Ball size balls shall be used.
bulletGames and practices should be no longer than 1½ hours.  Keep the game shorter if the conditions are cold, dark, rainy, etc.
bulletNo score shall be kept.  The book is for the lineup only.

GENERAL RULES

bulletPractice skills during the week session with games on Saturdays.
bulletAll coaches and managers should read and familiarize with the GRBA Safety Manual.
bulletInstruct and teach FUNdamentals to the players.
bulletHelp opposing players and coaches in any way you can.
bulletKeep control of the players on the bench.
bulletTeamwork is important.  Make all players feel comfortable.
bulletAfter the game, line the players up and shake hands with a good sportsmanship attitude: good game, nice play, etc.

UP TO BAT 

bulletPlayers must have a batting helmet on before picking up a bat to warm up.
bulletOnly 1 player on deck (With helmet on)
bulletIf the coach pitches instead of using the batting tee, he must pitch from at least 30 feet.
bulletUse of the batting tee is encouraged to help develop good hitting mechanics.
bulletEach team bats through the batting order each inning, regardless of outs.
bulletEach player advances one base on a hit.
bulletNo base runners can run on an overthrow.
bulletSliding is not permitted.

IN THE FIELD

bulletPlay all players in the field
bulletRotate players so that each fielder plays the infield and the outfield equally.
bulletCoaches are on the field with the players.
bulletRemind fielders that runners have the right of way to the bases.

 HOME TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES 

1.  Equipment – The home team is responsible for positioning and removing the bases, collecting and returning the helmets and any other equipment used from the equipment box.

 2.  Equipment Box – The home team is responsible for ensuring that the equipment box is locked.

 3.  Game Ball – The home team is responsible for supplying a game ball.

 4.  Copy of Rules – The home team is responsible for having a copy of the Softball Rules and Regulations.

 5.  Decision on Fields – The decision on whether the fields are usable is made by the DPW.  If weather is questionable, call the DPW Hotline. If the field is deemed usable by the DPW, but the field conditions at game time are questionable, the home team shall decide if the game is to be started. 

INJURIES 

1.  Blood Rule - A player, coach or umpire who is bleeding or who has blood on their uniform shall be prohibited from participating further in the game until appropriate treatment can be administered.  If medical care or treatment is administered in a reasonable length of time, the individual will not have to leave the game. 

2.  Player InjuryA player may be removed from the game at any time because of injury.  She may return to the game at any time. If an injured player is unable to bat, no penalty shall be assessed.  An injured player who misses an at bat but subsequently returns to the lineup shall assume her original batting order position. 

3.   Injury Reports – Any injury sustained in a practice or a game must be reported to the Tee Wee League Commissioner with an incident report as provided in the GRBA Safety Manual.
